Column Decoration - Mawlana Mausoleum Konya, Turkey
One of the best examples of Seljuk architecture, the Shrine of Mevlana
was built by Bedreddin of Tebriz, following Mawlana’s death. The shrine
was completed by 1274. After that year, the building process never ended;
additions continued until the end of 19th century. The fact that some of
the Ottoman Sultans were of the Mawlevi sect, helped the shrine to be so
well protected.
