Tiles of the Sircali Madrasa
(Konya 13th century)
Considered one of the most important schools
of the period, the Sircali Madrasa was built in 1242, during the time of Anatolian Seljuks, by Bedreddin Muslih. With several changes, it was used as a school until 1924. The name “sircali” was given to the madrasa for its decorative tiles of brown, purple and black. The tiles of of the Sircali Madrasa have a significant place in the art of ceramics.
